Reuniting lost and found pets with their humans

Report an animal

To post your lost/found animal on this site, e mail the details  to sideontelaf@gmail.com (just click on this link and it should take you to an e mail box. If it doesn’t please cut and paste the e mail address and copy into your e mail application). To give yourself the best opportunity to find your animal, or person who owns the animal you have found, you will need to provide some personal details. We recommend that you provide a mobile phone number and your first name only.

We will try to send you a reply e mail when your post first goes on the site, however during very busy times we may not have time to reply to your e mail. Please check that your post is on the site, if not then telaf has not received your e mail – please try sending again. Please note the site is usually maintained in the evenings so don’t expect your post to hit the airways until then.

Please write your post exactly as you want it published. We cut and paste so what you write will be it!   Please also include the name of your lost animal – this make record keeping and searching very much easier.

We would prefer the text in an e mail with a jpeg picture attachment which has the name of your pet or description of found pet. Word attachments are not preferred  as this takes longer to process and the photo is never as good. PDF attachments are definitely not preferred as we generally cannot cut and paste which means we will have to omit the picture and retype leading to possible errors.

Please note SCAMS: due to some distressing internet scams telaf is reluctant to publish your e mail address. We suggest a mobile phone no. only. If this is of concern to you you can nominate the telaf e mail address to be your point of contact and any messages will be forwarded on to you via e mail. TELAF commits to updating the site every 2 – 3 days. If you do not provide a phone number or specify sideon to be your point of contact, then we will automatically publish your e mail address unless otherwise specified.

We  suggest that you include a description of your animal including:

type, name, gender, desexed or not, colours, size, any distinguishing features, baby or adult, collars/tags, friendly/timid etc

location… date lost…..

contact name  … phone….

Please limit contents to that which is relevant to identifying your animal only. (pictures are great and can save a lot of description). We try to keep posts fairly short so people don’t get fustrated with scrolling down the screen. Also lower case is much easier on the eye than all upper case letters – netiquett.

Animals will remain on the site for at least 6 months. If you wish for your animal to remain on the site for longer please inform us at the 6 month period and we will re-post the details.

For other ideas on finding your animal go to the ‘expand your search’ page

Because we know of illegal and unscrupulous activities out there regarding animals, we suggest that if you find an animal you ask anybody who claims the animal to provide proof of ownership – vet papers, photos, council rego docs – anything else which you can think of.

If you lose an animal we suggest that you take proof of owership to any prospective ‘finder’

if you find an animal and are not going to take him/her to the pound (not all areas have pounds anyway) then we recommend that you keep looking for the owners for 7 days (see the expand your search).

Telaf provides, what we hope is, a useful community service however we cannot be responsible for the destiny of any animal. Telaf does not handle the animals ie we are not a shelter simply an electronic conduit for matching lost animals to their searching owners.

We wish you the very best of luck in finding your animal or the home of the animal you have found 🙂

  2. Sorry TELAF forgot how to post a message. Can you post this please – My partner saw a black dog walking along the railway track crossing near the Elizabeth River and Elrundie Road(near Channel Island). It looked like a labradoor/kelpie. Not sure if it was lost or not but it appeared to be well looked after.

  10. HAPPY ENDING: Thankyou to everyone who helped me thismorning. I encountered many early morning joggers and doggie walkers during my search missions. Everyone was positive and when I returned home at 0730 Skippy was here. I don’t know how she got home and I don’t know where she had been. I suspect a nearby good resident looked after her overnight when they realised Skippy was stressed out from the thunder and was fretting. Whoever it is – I owe you one mate. Thanx everyone and a big THANKYOU to TELAF !! Has been a scare for me.

  15. Hello!
There is a cat that has been laying dead on the middle of the street for 3 days now. The cat looks to be pure white in colour. The exact location is at the intersection of Henbury Ave and Willeroo St in Tiwi suburb. Looks like the dead cat was thrown on the island on the road.
It breaks my heart to see the dead cat getting decayed like that. That cat deserves a better after life. I dont know what to do. I dont want to go near it due to contamination issues. Who should I notify? Or can you please take charge of this….?

    Regards
    Radhika
