I was at the World Animal Day display on Sunday (4/10/09) a new product caught my eye so I thought I’d share this with you.  Local industry catstuffnt has developed a very light, affordable and moveable cat enclosure. With the new laws on keeping your cat in your yard (not an easy feat as any cat owner knows – unless the cat is kept inside), this will allow your cat to have some fresh air, Vitamin D and keep him/her safe at the same time. Wonderful news, telaf has a new partner. Her name is Amee and she will be sharing the work of inputting animals on the system, writing to you and generally keeping things up to date So if I fall off my perch at any stage telaf will continue

Please note that if you send us a post for a lost or found animal you will receive a reply . If you do not get a reply please try sending us the post again. I have recently discovered that a post sent by somebody some weeks ago was never received. (Yes e mails do seem to go astray occasionally). Telaf prides itself on reliability and responsiveness. We normally conduct daily updates of posts – usually in evenings.

If you do have any complaints  then please let us know about the problem. We can’t fix it if we dont know it’s broken!

There appears to be a largish number of cats going missing from Fannie Bay. If you or a friend/neighbour has a cat and lives in Fannie Bay please take extra special care. Its sensible to keep cats in at night after they have been fed, although if you can keep them in at all times of course this is the safest. Many people will let their cat out just when they are around. Cats are creatures of routine and this can be utilized when giving them access to the great outdoors, ie an hour when you get home and before you feed them.

…… that raisins, onions, chocolate, cocoa and macadamia nuts can be fatal to dogs if eaten  ….. and …… paper shredders can also be leghal. If you have a paper shredder best to turn off at wall and better to unplug completely unless in use.

I am Carolyn, the owner of lost cat Erica, lost from Fannie Bay 26.1.09. She is sadly as yet still lost.

I want to pass on to all animal lovers something I was told yesterday by a friend who lost his little Chihaua (sp?), 2 years ago. My friend is a very long term Darwin man & was told that the dog fights have recommenced – Police caught some people some years ago & they were charged but according to this report the horrendous practice has resumed.

I know it is probably only rumour as such a barbaric & illegal practice would be kept very secret, though Police did manage to track it down before.
I was unaware until yesterday that small animals may be thrown to the dogs prior to the fights to excite them & for this purpose they steal animals – cats or small dogs.

I’m unsure what, if anything can be done about this &; of course it will cause anyone such as myself who has inexplicably lost an animal terrible grief to think this may have been their beloved pet’s end. However I wondered if telaf may want to warn pet owners about this. My cat dissappeared from front porch of my unit between 12.00 PM & morning, I heard a loud bang shortly after I went to bed but decided not to go & check on Erica. You commented there had been a few cats go missing in Fannie Bay recently.

I thought if pet owners are on the alert for this possibility it may help others. I don’t have any hard evidence to report to police, though I may phone RSPCA on Monday about it. If you have any suggestions I’d like to hear them,

I just want to say what a valuable tool TELAF is to us and that we are checking it daily to see if the animals passing through here are on the web site. We also tell about 10 people a day to make sure their animal is on the web site so that we can find it and them. Thanks

Monty is a Male Poodle X Maltese 4 years old De-sexed wearing Tick collar went missing on the 12 of Jan 09 from Gamba road Humpty Doo.
He was a much loved child’s pet

This is such a good service, we are 2 Maltese dogs, LoLLy was rescued from some bad circumstances, and we are so grateful to be with our pack.
